Rangers and Rovers
This compilation film includes Rangers (young women scouts) riding horses and climbing in Snowdonia around Glaslyn Falls. They are also filmed at a joint Ranger-Rover camp of 500 people visited by Olave, Lady Baden Powell (the Chief Guide) who lights the camp bonfire.Other scenes show Sea Rangers giving a display to international guests, including a semaphore presentation at a waterside location. The Sea Rangers are also seen engaged in a range of boating activities including crossing the English Channel to Dieppe. The film concludes with footage taken at the first Air Ranger flying pageant held at Sywell Aerodrome in Northamptonshire on June 14th 1952, an event attended by Air Rangers from across the UK as well as invited guests The Hon. Sir Ralph Cochrane, and H.R.H. The Duchess of Gloucester accompanied by her son Prince Richard. There is film of a march past by the rangers and some shots of a single-seater aeroplane and a glider in action.
