Recipient to pour beer

Recipient to pour beerMeasuring jug with ear made from stanniferous faience and metal lid, used to pour exactly half a liter of beer. This volume is mentioned on the front of the jug, in a star shaped cartouche. These kind of jugs were normally hallmarked to make this measurement official. The mark on this jug is unreadable. This jug was made in Brussels and is part of the so called 'Vieux Bruxelles'. The peak of the production of beer jugs in Brussels was between the end of the eighteenth and mid nineteenth century, with three important workshops. This jug can not be ascribed with certainty to one of the three workshops.
